Here we showcase and provide links to all the project outcomes we have achieved so far. These include guideslines and workshops on general OER topics, our best-practice example in meteorology, and the mentoring programme.

Please feel free to send us your feedback on all these materials and topics via klimaoer@uni-bonn.de or using the contact details below. We are very keen to improve, and we can only do so with your help!

This is where we publish our digital project results. These are the guidelines from work package 4.2 and our best practice example from work package 4.3.

Guidelines

You can find a rough overview in terms of accessibility when creating digital content of what you should pay attention to. As there is already a lot of material on the topic of inclusion in the digital space, we have only focused on H5P elements in this section. The checklist “H5P-Elemente barrierefrei gestalten" (Making H5P elements accessible) is the result of a cooperation with the Competence Center for Digital Accessibility.nrw. The document summarizes 20 selected H5P elements with their setting options as a guide. The guideline is in german. If you are interested in an English version, please write to us and we will do our best to realize this as soon as possible. Further helpful checklists, guidelines and instructions on this topic can be found at the website from the Competence Center.

The slides from our workshop on ‘Introduction to Open Source Tools’ offer a comprehensive insight into the world of open source tools. (These have not been checked for accessibility.)

The guide to open source tools provides a list of recommendations and possible applications for OER creation for each topic covered in the workshop.

Having looked at accessibility and, later, open-source tools, we began to wonder: which tools can we use to create accessible or low-barrier documents? Kilian Berendes from our KlimaOER team looked into this question and has produced a further guide on the subject, entitled ‘Creating low-barrier documents with open-source tools – suitable workflows’.

Our workshop on licensing took place in autumn 2026 and featured contributions from three external speakers. You can find the presentation slides – which we have been authorised to publish – above under the link ‘Workshops’. Among them is the presentation by Henry Steinhau from iRights.Lab: ‘Licence Management and Compliance – The OER Assessment Tool’.

The guide we have developed on the subject of licences provides an overview of Creative Commons licences and offers a brief insight into copyright law.

The Evaluation Guide summarises the key findings of the KlimaOER Evaluation Workshop, led by Susanne von Jan, in a greatly simplified checklist. It provides an introduction to the eight steps of the evaluation and is intended to serve as a guide. (Expected publication: late July 2026)

Best Practice Example

The aim of the BPB is to spark an interest in meteorology through the topic of wind. It is also intended to encourage more meteorologists, scientists and teachers to publish their own content as OER.

We are currently in the second phase of implementation. The learning modules will be published and announced in the course of 2026.

"OER-Kompass" platform

For our best practice example, it was important to us to find the right platform. It needed, for example, to be sustainable (in the OER sense), easy to access and, of course, relevant to our topic. To this end, our Hamburg team embarked on an in-depth research project, reviewing and compiling a list of all possible OER platforms. The Excel spreadsheet ‘Platform Overview’ lists all national and international OER platforms along with the features we identified during our research. The HTML document ‘OER Platform Compass’ allows you to filter the results to find the OER platform that best suits your needs. (Instructions for this will follow shortly.)
If you think a platform is missing, please get in touch with us at klimaoer@uni-bonn.de and we’ll add it!

‘FragOER’ Mentoring Programme

Our mentoring programme is designed to ensure that OER newcomers receive quick and easy help from OER experts. Often, a standard online search overwhelms you with vast amounts of information, leaving you unsure where to start. You keep reading, never reaching the end, which means you don’t get round to taking action or can’t find the answer you’re looking for straight away. That’s where our community chat comes in to offer quick help.

The chat is called “FragOER” and is hosted on ORCA.nrw’s community platform, HumHub. Our space there is currently still under construction. If you have any requests or suggestions, please do get in touch! We’d also like all experts who identify as such on HumHub to create an OERWorldMap profile (if they haven’t already), because – in our opinion and according to our research – the likelihood of an OER newcomer stumbling across the Map is currently even higher than that of them finding HumHub. The profile should include a link to the HumHub space “FragOER” and the hashtags: #FragOER and your own area of expertise. This could include, for example, licensing, inclusion, subject-specific expertise or simply the creation of teaching and learning materials. Hopefully, this will enable newcomers to quickly find the relevant experts directly or join the chat to speak to everyone.

We very much hope that this mentoring programme will be well received and widely used, so that it becomes self-sustaining once our project has ended.
