ADVENT ACTION at the Mineralogical Museum
We start just in time for the 1st Advent on November 30th.
If you are between five and thirteen years old, you are cordially invited to play for a little surprise. As always, we are open on Sundays from 10:00 to 17:00. Admission is of course free for you!

On DIES there is a special guided tour with free admission.

The tour starts at 4:30 pm, meeting point is the foyer of the Museum im Poppelsdorfer Schloss.

Mineral EVOLUTION
Today, we know more than 6,100 minerals on Earth – and 50 to 100 new ones are discovered every year. On other rocky planets in our solar system, only a few hundred mineral types exist.
So what made Earth different?
Our special exhibition explores this question and invites you on a journey from the universe’s first tiny crystals to the rich mineral diversity we find on Earth today.

The mineral of the year is native copper.
The rock of the year is claystone. Don't be put off by its appearance! You will find the two award winners in their own showcases in our gemstone hall.
With our exhibition catalog, you can take the most beautiful pieces home to your sofa in a practical handbag format – or give them as a gift.

The museum is closed on public holidays!
Admission is usually free on special days such as Dies academicus, International Museum Day, Open Monument Day or Geotope Day.

Reduced 1,50 €
The discount applies to unemployed persons, school pupils, severely disabled persons and students on presentation of a corresponding document
Children and young people up to and including the age of 16 do not pay admission.
