With Junior Professor Dr Leonie Esters and Simon Hauser, Institute of Earth Sciences, Department of Meteorology, University of Bonn

Join us on a research expedition and hear about scientific findings first-hand. Two researchers from our institute will talk about their unusual workplace, situated between the university and the world’s oceans! How does a research team live and work on a research vessel in the middle of the ocean? What research-relevant data is measured? The talk takes the audience on sea voyages to remote marine research stations and provides a direct insight into the day-to-day life of marine research. Numerous photographs illustrate not only the work on board but also impressive encounters with nature on the high seas. At the same time, it shows how marine research is also carried out in Bonn and why findings from the ocean are central to our understanding of climate, weather and the environment. A talk combining adventure, science and personal experience.
