- Quaternary lacustrine sediments: Palynology, Palaeoecology, Sedimentology (Lake Baikal, Lake Van, Lake Iznik, Lake Kinnereth, Lake Birkat Ram, Maar lakes and peatland).
- Tertiary of the Lower Rhine Embayement: Palaeoflora, Genesis of Lignites, Sedimentology.
- Devonian of the Rhenish Slate Mountains: Evolution of early land plants and Palaeoecosystems.
