Research interests:

The research interest of Bastian Mähler focuses on taphonomy. As an experimental scientist he studies decomposition processes under aquatic conditions. Being a member of the DFG research unit 2685 “The Limits of the Fossil Record: Analytical and Experimental Approaches to Fossilization” Bastian Mähler is working on sub-project B3 “The impact of bacterial activity on decay and fossilization of arthropods: An experimental approach” as a phd student. Within his project he is closely working with the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology.
